Why we should be celebrating the ‘little things’

We spend our lives chasing the Big Wins, but what if the Big Wins are really the Small Wins.

Our lives are a collection of experiences and memories.

When we look back on who we were, what we did, what we achieved, most of us directly go into a mode of searching through the big achievements mental drawer to find what sets us apart from others.

But, if you really think about it, the big moments were just a collection of small moments.

Yes, you may have been a keynote speaker a fancy event, you may have won an award of recognition, you may have bought your dream car or home. But, don’t be fooled to think that these events, which are now memories, were just a product of the end result.

The journey to the end is what made the end so wonderful.

The nights you spent researching for your essays or book which led you to become the keynote speaker, the hours of work, time and effort that went into being able to achieve an award, the hundreds or thousands of people you helped along the way, the process of saving money for years to buy your dream car, going to the showroom, taking it on a test drive, dreaming about your family home for years before you finally stepped in for the first time and knew instinctively this was ‘the one’. Picking out a new kitchen, bathroom, looking at paint swatches, decorating your baby’s room for the first time.

These are all the small moments which collectively made the big moment.

The point here, is that in order to achieve the big wins, we must celebrate the small wins. Our lives are a collection of experiences and memories. The collection of these is what makes the achievement. Not the achievement itself.

True happiness comes from acknowledgement, acceptance, and love of the self.

Soulful Living requires us to practice gratitude for the self, daily. Be grateful for the journey.

Be grateful for the version of you right now that is on that journey. This version of the self is the collection of experiences and memories.

So, embody the version of you that you can look back on at the end of an incredibly magnificent life and be proud of the steps you took each day.

Each day is a small win.
